SUFFOLK OTB HONORS ARTIE SCHILLER OTB Sunrise Branch lounge to be dedicated to Long Island owned horse
Horse racing fans were on-hand recently as Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation (OTB) formally dedicated the “Artie Schiller Lounge” at its Sunrise Branch in Bay Shore in recognition of the winning thoroughbred Bay Colt, Artie Schiller. Long Island’s famed Entenmann family, who decided to name the thoroughbred after a family friend, owns the horse Artie Schiller. Mr. Schiller was a Suffolk OTB manager for more than 15 years at various branches, including the original Bay Shore Branch.
“The unveiling of the sign and presentation of the proclamation was a fitting testimony to the strength and determination of the Entenmann and Schiller families,” commented Suffolk OTB CEO and President Anthony F. Apollaro. “It would appear to belie the integrity of the aptly named Thoroughbred!”
The thoroughbred won the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Handicap in August at Saratoga Race Course. Artie Schiller currently has seven wins in his twelve career starts with earnings exceeding $555,000.
