Ed Truzzolino wins Suffolk OTB June 2006 Handicapping Challenge

Ed Truzzolino of West Babylon, New York is winner of Suffolk OTB’s June 2006 Handicapping Challenge.  Truzzolino won $5,600 for his first place finish in the contest, and an all-expense paid entry into the Coast Casino’s $1 Million Horse Player World Series, which will be held at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in January 2007.

Contestants made $2 Win/Place bets on 12 races - six each at Belmont and Churchill Downs - on Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Truzzolino jumped out early with a winner in the first race of the day at Belmont, and stayed in the top ten throughout the day.  After picking three more winners at Churchill, Truzzolino found himself in third place with only one wager remaining.  He finished in dramatic fashion -correctly picking #8 Spooked ridden by W.P. Troilo as the winner in Churchill’s 11th race to spring into first place and win the contest.

Truzzolino, a retail sales manager who is married to Nancy and has four children, has been playing the horses for over 30 years.  His favorite track is Belmont Park, and has admired Jorge Velasquez, Angel Cordero, and John Velazqez as his favorite jockeys.  This was the third handicapping contest he has competed in, and the first he has ever won.
