Paul Shurman wins Suffolk OTB October 2007 Handicapping Challenge

Paul Shurman of Dix Hills, NY is the winner of Suffolk OTB’s October 2007 handicap Challenge.  Contestants made $2 win/place wagers on 12 races, six each at Belmont and Keeneland, on Saturday, October 14.  Shurman’s total of $183.50 topped the field.

Shurman won $10,100 for his first place finish in the contest, and an all-expense paid entry into the Coast Casino’s $1 Million Horseplayer World, which will be held at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in January 2008.

Shurman first started handicapping in the 1970’s, making frequent trips with his brother Bill to Roosevelt Raceway.  His favorite track is Saratoga, where he spends a good portion of his summer.
