Suffolk OTB Helps the Andrew Lakeman Assistance Fund
The Suffolk OTB Annual Employee Charity Golf Outing was held on October 23rd at Bethpage State Park followed by dinner at the Carlyle on the Green restaurant. This year the Andrew Lakeman Assistance Fund was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the event. Lakeman, a 32 year old jockey who suffered a fall during a race at Belmont Park in May 2007 and is not expected to walk again, has made great strides in his recovery. The Fund, administered by the Backstretch Employee Service Team (B.E.S.T.) at Belmont Park, was established to help Andrew meet his medical expenses. Thanks to golfers and sponsors, Suffolk OTB was proud to support the Lakeman Fund with $6,266.00 raised at the event.
